In what has quickly become a busy week for Coach Collins and his staff JaQuari Wiggles (@quay3k_ throw him a follow), a 6’3” 260lb SDE/TE out of Mays High School right here in Atlanta’s West Side, committed to stay home and commit to The Institute.
Wiggles held offers from a good group of programs, and originally received an offer from Coach Collins during his previous time at Temple. JaQuari was also garnering interest from App State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Troy, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.
He is rated as the #70 player in Georgia, and the #34 SDE in the country according to 247sports.com. Rivals on the other hand lists him as the #49 player in the state, with a 5.7 ranking.
After visiting Tech earlier in April, Tech seemed to have left a lasting impression on JaQuari.
As for his film, he’s a true tackler, who makes good use of his hands to maintain a line of sight to the backfield. On the offensive side of the ball, he has good feel for the development of any given play and makes sure he’s found in the event a play breaks down. He uses his hands to go up and get the ball, which is always a very encouraging thing to see. Add in his size in a Tight End role, and he could become a real match-up problem.
Ed. Note: By request of Stephen, here are Kieffer’s notes on Wiggles’ film:
- Decent explosion but not dominant
- Good length and solidly built frame
- Quick frame but strides a bit
- Really needs to work on technique, just runs around trying f*** s*** up
- Does not pass rush with a plan at all, super raw as a pass rusher
- People have said he’ll grow into a DT, I see DE all the way. He doesn’t have enough speed for TE but could play there in a pinch.
JaQuari becomes the 10th member in Georgia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class, and has his whole senior season left before him to enjoy the sweet uniforms that they have over there at Mays. Love those powder blues.
Join me in welcoming JaQuari Wiggles to The Flats!
