With his signing day ceremony broadcast to the (Metro Atlanta) masses on Fox 5 this morning, Jamious Griffin (throw him a follow) completed his recruiting process, choosing to spend his collegiate career on The Flats sporting Old Gold and White.

Jamious decommitted from NC State on January 21st after some speculation on the rumor mills that he would be open to further exploring his options. His decision came down to NC State, Auburn, Louisville, and Georgia Tech.

Jamious was a major contributor for Rome High School (Rome, GA), where, in his senior year, he rushed for 2815 yards, averaging right at 200 yards per game and a whopping 9.8 ypc. He was named All-Area and All-Region for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, and his team also won the 5A State Championship in 2017. His career high in rushing yards came against East Paulding High School, where he rushed for 339 yards. View those highlights and Paul W. “Bear” Bryant here:

Playing since his freshman year and touting the rock almost 800 times in his high school career, Griffin found the end zone 104 times. So it’s safe to say this 5’10” 205lb running back knows how to get North and South when his number is called.

Griffin was rated as a 4* recruit (.8917, 247 Composite, 5.8 Rivals). Per 247 Sports, he ranked as the 15th best running back in the 2019 class. Griffin’s commitment also makes him the highest rated prospect in Collin’s first recruiting class at Tech.

Based on his film, here’s what our recruiting staff has to say about Griffin:

“Griffin’s Hips:

[ ] Lie

[X] Don’t Lie “ - Joey Weaver

“He absorbs contact to the mid section well due to bend. Elite foot quickness so he can reset and accelerate after shedding contact. Great burst. Good strength for his size.” - Kieffer Milligan

In part of his profile after winning the 2018-2019 Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year, some insight into Jamious’ off-the-field contributions was included:

“A devoted member of his church community, Griffin has volunteered on behalf of area elementary schools... Griffin has maintained a 3.04 GPA in the classroom.”

Join me in welcoming Jamious to Georgia Tech!
