QB Demetrius Knight is Commit No. 8

Georgia Tech has added its third commitment to the 2019 class in the last week in the form of quarterback Demetrius Knight.

Knight, who stands at 6-2 and 194 lbs., is a local product coming over from Strong Rock Christian in Locust Grove. He is not currently rated by either Rivals or 247Sports. He made his announcement on Twitter.

I wasn’t able to find any other information regarding offers (outside of an offer from Tennessee Tech), but he also received interest from a few different schools including Temple, FAU, UCF, and Purdue. He was even invited to a camp with Oklahoma.

Film

There wasn’t much film to work with here, so I’ll just give analysis on what I see here. Knight seems like a very good runner. He’s good at running through some guys and getting out into the open field, a skill that will be very useful at Tech. He also seems to have a decent arm hitting his receivers in stride a good bit.

As for my concerns, I am not a big fan of his footwork in the pocket. Outside of that, he also doesn’t pass much at his school (he attempted only 99 passes last year). Because of that, it can be difficult to get a read on how he is as a passer. Overall, I like this pickup. If he doesn’t work out at quarterback, I could see him make the transition over to wide receiver if he adds a little bit of weight and can learn to block.
