Recruiting: McEachern CB Ajani Kerr Flips to Georgia Tech on National Signing Day, is Commitment #18

After a lot of shuffling late, the Jackets came away with a local defensive back on National Signing Day.

The Yellow Jackets got a little bit of a surprise on the morning of National Signing Day, as local CB Ajani Kerr flipped from his commitment to Central Michigan and pledged to Georgia Tech. The flip was first reported by Dan McDonald of Rivals.com:

We told you that Kerr was the recipient of a last-minute scholarship offer from Georgia Tech yesterday, and has been through a bit of a whirlwind of change over the last two weeks. He was originally scheduled to visit the Flats on his last weekend before Signing Day. He then committed to Kennesaw State, leading him to cancel that visit, and then elected to visit Central Michigan instead. That resulted in a commitment to the Chippewas, which Kerr now flips away from on National Signing Day.

A look at Kerr's film shows that he's a physical player with good hips who does well in coverage. Although he didn't get a ton of hype in recruiting circles, Coach Andy McCollum told us on Georgia Tech's National Signing Day Celebration that other coaches in the county considered Kerr "the best player on their defense". (Worth noting here: Kerr is one of 8 players from McEachern High School who will sign with FBS programs today, and one of 5 who will sign with Power-5 programs.)

Kerr is rated a two-star recruit by Rivals (5.2) and is unrated in the 247Sports Composite.

Congratulations to Ajani and his family on the commitment, and to Georgia Tech's coaches for the late acquisition!
