A couple of weeks back, shortly before National Signing Day, we caught up with Norcross DB Jarett Cole, who was then committed and has since signed with Georgia Tech. We talked about his official visit, his decision to commit to the Yellow Jackets, and more. Take a look!
Jarett -- how was your official visit?
It was great! It just confirmed my choice to come to Georgia Tech!
Who was your host on your visit?
Clinton Lynch. We played together when he was still at Norcross, and he showed me a great time!
Awesome. What was your favorite part?
I really enjoyed the trip to Fogo de Chao, and it was awesome hanging out with the players -- both recruits and guys currently on the team.
You and Xavier Gantt claim to be the two biggest recruiters within the class. Did you guys do any selling to Jay Jones before he committed on the visit, or to any of the other guys who committed afterwards? (Those being Brandon Adams, Lucas Johnson, and Jordan Woods.)
Oh yeah, we did some selling on the visit for sure. The school and what it has to offer honestly speaks for itself, but Xavier and I did our best to give it that little extra push!
What were the biggest reasons you wanted to commit to Georgia Tech?
Education, Power-5 football, and location. It's a great education while still playing with the best of the best, and it's a great location for my family to be able to come watch me.
You're listed as a defensive back by many recruiting services. Which position will you be playing in the secondary?
I'll start out playing the nickel and safety spots.
Any big plans for Signing Day?
We'll be having a Signing Day ceremony at my school, and then I'm having a little get-together at my house afterwards for family and friends. Nothing too special!
Anything you want Georgia Tech fans to know about you?
I'm coming in ready to play, and I expect us to do something really special! #GT16
For those who may not have heard it, I want to include a quick story here that DC Ted Roof told at Georgia Tech's Signing Day Celebration. Cole attended the ACC Championship Game back in early December in Charlotte, and after the game he called up Coach Roof. Being that this was late at night, Roof woke up to the phone ringing and began to panic, as most fathers of high-school aged boys would. When it was Cole on the phone, Roof was confused -- couldn't it just wait until the morning? But it couldn't. Cole was so excited from being at the ACC Championship and so excited at the thought of getting back there, that calling up Coach Roof couldn't wait that long. Long story short -- Cole is extremely excited to be coming to Georgia Tech.
Thanks again to Jarett Cole for sitting down with us. We're extremely excited to have him on board!
