With Georgia Tech's spring semester due to start on Monday, a long-awaited signee, a transfer, and a pair of its committed players will be enrolling early and beginning classes.
First, 2016 LB commit Emmanuel Bridges and BB commit Dedrick Mills will both be moving in to their dorms over the next few days and beginning their first semester of classes on Monday, as well as joining their new teammates for off season workouts and preparing to participate in spring practice. That's a big deal for Georgia Tech, as Bridges and Mills were two high-priority players for the coaches in this recruiting class, and enrollment effectively ends their recruitment. Not only have the Yellow Jackets fully locked the duo up almost a month before Signing Day, but now has them in position to participate in spring practice.
In addition, 2015 QB signee Jaylend Ratliffe will be making his long-awaited journey to begin his career on the Flats beginning on Monday. You'll remember that Ratliffe accepted a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech and was committed before suffering severe head trauma in an ATV accident shortly before the start of his senior year. Although his resulting injuries were severe and put his future as a football player in serious doubt, the coaching staff honored the offer, staying committed to Jaylend as he was to them. Ratliffe's resulting time in the hospital set him back academically, requiring him to delay his enrollment on the Flats by nearly 7 months from the other signees in his recruiting class. He'll finally be arriving and beginning classes at Georgia Tech next week, but although his private doctors have cleared him for football activities, it's still up to Georgia Tech's team doctors to do the same before he can participate in practices or drills.
Last, but certainly not least, JUCO transfer DE Desmond Branch will also be enrolling in classes on Monday along with Bridges, Mills, and Ratliffe (although it's unlikely they'll be in the same classes).
As for Georgia Tech's other commitments, they'll have the opportunity to sign and submit a National Letter of Intent (LOI) on Wednesday, February 3 -- National Signing Day. From there, assuming all goes according to plan and they're academically eligible, they'll enroll and begin their coursework on June 20 -- the first day of Georgia Tech's "Late Summer Session" classes.
Congratulations to these players, and to the coaches who recruited them!
