Hot on the heels of National Signing Day for Georgia Tech's 2015 recruiting class, Xavier Gantt became the first commitment of the Yellow Jackets' 2016 class in February of 2015. Gantt is a local prospect, having played high school football alongside Ted Roof's sons at Buford High School in Gwinnett County.
For almost a year now, Gantt has remained faithfully committed to the Yellow Jackets. He took his official visit to the Flats last weekend, and we recently caught up with him on how it went.
--------------------------------------
How did the official visit go last weekend?
It was great! David Curry was my host. We played together at Buford and he really showed me a good time.
What was your favorite part of the visit?
Eating at Fogo de Chao. The food was amazing!!
Were you meeting any of the other guys in the class for the first time or did you know everyone already?
I met a few of them for the first time in person, but I had talked to all of them before.
Jay Jones committed while you guys were there. Did you do any 'selling' to convince him?
I didn't even get the chance to talk to him until Saturday, when I was looking for him after finding out he committed. Saturday night, we all hung out and got to know him a little better after he picked Georgia Tech over Alabama and Auburn!
Do you have any special plans for National Signing Day?
Not really, I'm just ready to make things truly official!
Last question -- anything that you'd like for Georgia Tech fans to know about you?
Just that I can't wait to get there and continue making Georgia Tech the special place that it is!

Thanks to Xavier for taking the time to discuss his official visit! We're excited to have him as a part of the Yellow Jacket family.
