Georgia Tech Recruiting: ATH Garrett Rigby Becomes Commit No. 5

After impressing at camp this weekend, Tech gets another commit!

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Following an impactful weekend at a camp Georgia Tech hosted for prospects, Tucker native Garrett Rigby was offered a scholarship and ultimately accepted it to become Tech's fifth commitment of the 2015-2016 cycle. Scout was the first one (that I could find) to report the news ($$).

At Tucker, Rigby plays various positions for them, including quarterback, wide receiver and safety. Right now, I'd say he probably makes the most sense as a safety for us.

Standing at 6'0, 190 lbs., Rigby was ranked as a two-star recruit by Rivals (5.4) and a three-star by 247Sports (0.8111). He committed to Tech over reported offers from Cincinnati, Georgia Southern and UNC. Rivals also reported that he received interest from uga.

From watching his film, a couple things are evident. First, he has really good instincts as a defender. He does a fantastic job of keeping his eye on the ball (or whoever is carrying it). He's also pretty good on his feet, which comes in handy at safety and quarterback. My only real criticism from what I could see would be as a quarterback. His throwing motion looks like he puts way too much effort into it. He threw a nice spiral and it looked like it had some nice touch on it, but it just looks like he's trying way too hard.

What are your thoughts on Rigby? Where does he fit in at Tech?
