Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Yellow Jackets Add JUCO DE Desmond Branch as Commitment No. 11

It's been a good recruiting week for the Yellow Jackets.

Recruiting seemed like it was going downhill last week following the de-commitments of Jordan Johnson and Trysten Hill. The Yellow Jackets bounced back this week after getting two flips in OL Kenny Cooper (Western Kentucky) and WR Jalen Camp (Liberty). Now, the Yellow Jackets have added JUCO defensive end Desmond Branch from Trinity Valley Community College.

Branch, a 6-foot-4 265-pound defensive end, originally committed to play for the New Mexico Lobos coming out of high school. He never played a snap for the Lobos and went to Trinity Valley C.C.

I couldn't find anything in terms of stats apart from his numbers from last year. Last season, Branch had a solid season, appearing in nine games and accounting for 32 tackles and seven sacks.

The worst-case scenario I see for Branch is he comes in and serves as some solid depth for a very depleted defensive line that as time progresses is becoming less depleted.

The best-case scenario is that these numbers translate to ACC play and he becomes a mainstay at strong-side defensive end opposite some sort of combination of KeShun Freeman, Antonio Simmons and Anree Saint-Amour.

Luckily, I was able to find his film from this past season for him at Trinity Valley C.C.

Watching his film, I see a quick first step. Something else that stood out to me was what seems to be a pretty devastating spin move. Granted, this was against inferior competition to what he'll be facing at Tech, but this guy definitely brings some solid potential to a defensive line that really underperformed this year.
