Former defensive back Dameon Williams got everything started earlier this week by adding his name into the transfer portal, and now former B-back KirVonte Benson and offensive lineman Zakk McKeehan have followed, according to a report by Rivals’ Kelly Quinlan.
#GaTech OL Zakk Mckeehan has put his name into the NCAA transfer portal and sources tell JOL that KirVonte Benson will do the same and more are expected. https://t.co/AzgrnuzyL7

Benson can play immediately wherever he goes, Zakk would have to sit or get a waiver. pic.twitter.com/OdiW87GOnU
Benson was expected to play a sizable role in offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude’s offense as a senior this year. Before his injury last season, Benson was the starter at B-back after a breakout season in 2017 that saw him rush for 1,053 yards and six touchdowns.
McKeehan was a redshirted last season and was set to serve as a reserve offensive lineman this season.
It’s not all bad news though. From earlier this week, a certain kicker received a scholarship.
Just received word from a source that Wesley Wells has been put on scholarship.

Wells is a sophomore and did some pretty good things for Georgia Tech’s kicking game last season as a freshman. Seems his reliability has been rewarded. @TheAthleticATL
Wells was an incredible asset for the Yellow Jackets last season, finishing 9-for-9 on field goals including a season-long 48-yard field goal.
Update!
Defensive back Jarett Cole has also entered his name into the transfer portal, per KQ.
#GaTech has a third transfer of the day, safety Jarett Cole who joins Benson and Mckeehan. Fifth this week puts GT at 84 scholarships. https://t.co/AzgrnuzyL7

In his tweet, KQ mentions that Tech is now at 84 scholarships which opens up a spot for either a walk-on to get added or a player to transfer in.
