And so the attrition begins. Well, technically continuing, but whatever. Tori McElhaney, of The Athletic, tweeted out earlier that redshirt sophomore DB Dameon Williams entered the transfer portal.
Just learned from a source that Georgia Tech DB Dameon Williams has entered the transfer portal. Williams is a redshirt sophomore. @TheAthleticATL

After redshirting as a true freshman, Williams played very sparingly during his two years on the Flats. He came to the Flats in 2017 in a recruiting class that was loaded with talent at defensive back — Tre Swilling, Tariq Carpenter, Kaleb Oliver, Gentry Bonds, Jaytlin Askew, and Avery Showell, also joined the Yellow Jackets in that class.
Being that Tech had been set to go into the season a few scholarships over the limit, nobody should be surprised that the attrition is coming. It seems as it was just a matter of when, not if. I expect we’ll probably see a handful more kids transfer out.
It’s also important to remember that just because someone enters the transfer portal, they are still able to come back to their school.
Don’t mind me with the ninja edit, but the AJC’s Ken Sugiura is also reporting that Williams has already left the team, so feel free to ignore that last sentence.
Regardless of what happens, thank you for all of your hard work on the Flats, Dameon, and we at From the Rumble Seat wish you the best moving forward!
