Well as we close in on the early signing period, Georgia Tech got some more good news today with former Tennessee offensive lineman Ryan Johnson announcing that he would be spending his final year of eligibility at Georgia Tech!

This is a huge move that should help sure up the offensive line. As of right now (before the class comes in), I think Johnson would slot in very nicely at right tackle across from Zach Quinney. He’ll have to fight off Jack DeFoor (who played some RT this past season) and potentially some of the true freshmen if they light things up in camp.
Johnson stands at 6-foot-6 and 302 pounds and is everything you could want in a Georgia Tech football player. He finished his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering in three years and was pursuing a master’s in Structural Engineering before transferring. He brings starting experience at guard, and center, so really, he could slot in to any spot on the line.
What’s really cool to me, though, is that Johnson hails from Brentwood Academy, which is the same high school that the late Brandon Adams attended. They graduated together in 2015.
Welcome to the Flats, Ryan!
