Game Preview and Score Prediction:
Georgia Tech returns this week to take on David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils who have won four of their last five over the Yellow Jackets. With Tech in the midst of what has truly been a Year 0, I’m not holding out a lot of hope for this game, but that won’t stop me from talking about it!
How much is Duke going to run the flexbone against Tech?
The Blue Devils started doing this funny thing this season where they will break out the old flexbone set when they get close to the endzone and run a handful of plays from it. From what I’ve seen, it’s been mildly successful for them too. So with that and how well The Citadel performed against Tech, I expect Duke to utilize the flexbone for a good bit of the game when they get close to the endzone.
Will we see Jordan Yates anytime soon?
I don’t know about anytime soon, but Yates was above the line for the second week in a row this week. I think Graham has a pretty high ceiling, and I’d like to see him continue to grow, but from watching Yates’ high school film, I just think he takes it to another level. Whoever is on the field at quarterback this weekend for Tech, I hope they make some strides in the passing game.
Is this one going to get out of hand?
In every single one of Duke’s victories this season, the Blue Devils have scored over 40 points and held the opponent to less than 20, granted those teams are Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee, and NC A&T. Tech hasn’t played remarkably well at all this season, so I think this one could definitely get out of hand pretty quickly if Tech starts slow for the sixth time this season.
Score Prediction
I have no reason to believe that Tech is going to win today, and to be quite honest, I really hate that. I’m happy with a lot of the progress that I’ve seen from the team this season, but it really just kinda sucks to be in this situation where we have to be so patient to truly see the fruits of the labor from these players and coaches. Anyway, I hope I’m wrong, but I think Duke wins this one, but Tech gets their first victory against the spread this week: 27-17.
How do you think this game goes?
