With the 178th overall pick in the 6th round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Georgia Tech CB D.J. White.
In White, NFL teams will be getting a player whose underwhelming physical abilities are made up for with fantastic technique, instincts, and intelligence. It seems unlikely that White would be able to lock down some of the most physically imposing receivers in the NFL, and may not have a future as a team's top cornerback. However, he's a highly coachable player who should contribute immediately and add depth to the Kansas City secondary.
A three-year starter at Georgia Tech, White has become synonymous with some of the program's biggest plays in recent memory. From an interception that completed the victory over georgia in 2014, to chasing down James Conner to force a touchdown-saving fumble against Pittsburgh, White has shown consistent effort and instincts to become perhaps the single biggest playmaker on Georgia Tech's defense over the last four years.
Congratulations and best of luck to D.J. White on the next stage of his career!
