The Yellow Jackets woke up this morning at 3-1, with their first October game scheduled for high noon against Miami. The Hurricanes are coached by Georgia Tech’s old nemesis, Mark Richt, who is making his first trip to The Flats since being fired by georgia. The ‘Canes have been extremely impressive so far this year, but it’s come against inferior levels of competition — their toughest opponent so far has been Appalachian State, in a game where the Mountaineers lost their best player in the first quarter. Now, both teams look to get started off on the right foot in divisional play. Georgia Tech currently finds itself 3-1, and 1-1 in conference play, having experienced plenty of offensive struggles in both of its conference games so far. While the defense has played well, the offense still needs to prove that it can function against conference opponents — if it can, the Yellow Jackets will be in good position to contend for the Coastal Division. If it can’t, 2016 may prove to be another long season on The Flats.
