Being Thursday prior to the game, Georgia Tech published its official injury report today. It's...a little busier than we had hoped it would be.
Position | Player | Status |
---|---|---|
DL | Rod Rook-Chungong | Questionable |
AB | Qua Searcy | Out |
WR | Micheal Summers | Out |
DL | Patrick Gamble | Out |
QB | Tim Byerly | Out for Season |
BB | C.J. Leggett | Out for Season |
AB | Nathan Cottrell | Out for Season |
AB | KirVonte Benson | Out for Season |
OL | Chris Griffin | Out for Season |
You'll notice a few things here:
First, as was announced by Coach Johnson on Monday at his radio show, backup QB Tim Byerly has elected to have surgery to repair his knee, and he'll definitely be out for the season, dashing hopes that he might return this year. Matthew Jordan will take his place in backing up Justin Thomas.
Next, you'll notice that, aside from Searcy and Summers, Patrick Gamble has also been downgraded to "out" for this weekend's game. That's two starters who will miss the game with injuries, not counting any of the potential starters who were already out for the year. Not a good sign.
Finally, you'll notice that a third starter, Rod Rook-Chungong, is also listed as questionable for this game. Losing him, along with Gamble, would be a major blow to the defensive front. He's backed up by Tyler Stargel and Antonio Simmons.
Does this change any of your feelings about this weekend?
