Georgia Tech Football: 2015 Jackets in the NFL - Week 2

New, 5 comments

Exciting things happened for the Pro Jackets this week, plus we added a new section!

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Jeremiah "Jerry" Attaouchu, OLB, San Diego Chargers (2010-2013)

After missing last week due to a hamstring injury, Jeremiah Attaochu was a full participant in practice all week long and made the start Sunday against the Cincinnati Benglas. In the Chargers' 24-19 loss, Attaochu was only able to get two tackles.

T.J. Barnes, DT, New York Jets (2008-2012)

T.J. Barnes was active for the Jets' Monday night 20-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He didn't accumulate any stats that I could find, but he helped hold Andrew Luck and the Colts offense to just seven points.

Morgan Burnett, S, Green Bay Packers (2007-2009)

After missing last week due to a calf injury, Morgan Burnett was a limited participant in practice all week, but was able to make the start in the Packers' 27-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Burnett finished the game with three tackles.

Mario Butler, CB, Buffalo Bills (2007-2009)

Mario Butler and the Buffalo Bills defense were pretty powerless to stop Tom Brady and the Patriots offense this week, as they lost 40-32, but Butler was able to register a tackle.

Andrew Gardner, OG, Philadelphia Eagles (2005-2008)

Andrew Gardner started for the Eagles in their 20-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this week as the Eagles' running game continued to struggle. This week, the Eagles only managed seven yards. That includes Demarco Murray getting 13 carries for a whopping two yards. Those poor fantasy owners.....

Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit Lions (2004-2006)

After being targeted just four times last week, Matt Stafford and the Detroit Lions wised up and started throwing to Calvin Johnson a little bit more. This week, Johnson hauled in 10 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown, but the rest of the Lions offense couldn't do much, causing them to lose to the Minnesota Vikings 26-16.

Michael Johnson, DE, Cincinnati Bengals (2005-2008)

Michael Johnson got his first start for the Cincinnati Bengals this week in their 24-19 victory over the San Diego Chargers. Johnson helped out the defense with three tackles.

Shaquille Mason, OG, New England Patriots (2011-2014)

Shaq Mason got his first career start for the New England Patriots this week in place of right guard Ryan Wendell, who was out with an illness. The Patriots won the game 40-32 over the Buffalo Bills.

Derrick Morgan, OLB, Tennessee Titans (2007-2009)

Following up on a fantastic Week 1, where he was the top Pro Jacket, Derrick Morgan came up a little short this week, in terms of repeating. He still had a good week in the Titans' 28-14 loss registering six tackles and a forced fumble.

Daryl Smith, LB, Baltimore Ravens (2000-2003)

Daryl Smith and the Ravens defense came up a little short this week, losing 37-33 to the Oakland Raiders. Smith still did a solid job, registering eight tackles.

Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos (2006-2008)

After having a sub-par game last week, Demaryius Thomas had a great week this week and is this week's top Pro Jacket. In the Broncos' 31-24 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, Thomas reeled in eight catches for 116 yards.

Vance Walker, DE, Denver Broncos (2005-2008)

Vance Walker started at defensive end in the Broncos' 31-24 victory over the Chiefs, but did not register any stats.

Darren Waller, WR, Baltimore Ravens (2011-2014)

Darren Waller played snaps in the Ravens' 37-33 loss to the Raiders, but did not register any stats.

Did Not Play

Stephen Hill, WR for the Carolina Panthers, was placed on the IR prior to the start of the season. And DeAndre Smelter, WR for the San Francisco 49ers, was placed on the Non-Football Injury Reserve prior to the season.

Practice Squad

  • Isaiah Johnson, S, Detroit Lions
  • Brandon Watts, LB, Minnesota Vikings
  • Lou Young, CB, Carolina Panthers
  • Zach Laskey, FB, St. Louis Rams

Canadian Football League

  • Anthony Allen, RB, Saskatchewan Roughriders (2008-2010): The Saskatchewan Roughriders' season has been rough to say the least. Following their 30-27 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks this last Saturday, the Roughriders fell to 1-11. In that game, Anthony Allen managed two carries for just one yard. Over the course of the whole season, though, Allen has had 49 carries for 327 yards and two touchdowns (second in each of those categories).
  • Euclid Cummings, DL, Toronto Argonauts (2009-2013): The Toronto Argonauts have been doing quite a bit better than the Roughriders this season, going 6-5 up to this point. They had a bye week this week, but Euclid Cummings is doing pretty well for the Argonauts with 16 tackles and four sacks.
