It's weird to be angry when your team wins. I mean, they won. How much more could you ask for?
In this case, a lot.
Georgia Tech walked onto the field today expecting to beat up on Wofford and get some experience for their backups. As it would turn out, Wofford had other plans. The Terriers came out and gave Georgia Tech their best shot, even taking a 9-7 lead shortly before halftime on a 90+ yard run. (Tech would manage a field goal on the last play before halftime to take a 10-9 lead.)
Some things went well for Tech, luckily. The offense in the second half was really effective, by which I mean DeAndre Smelter decided he wasn't going to put up with this nonsense and entered #BEASTMODE. Meanwhile, the defense struggled to defend an offense very similar to what they see in practice three times a week and some really stupid first half mistakes made the game a lot close than it really ever should have been.
A game that really should have showcased the best Tech had to offer ended up being very uninspiring for a lot of Georgia Tech fans. We won, and there were some good moments, but as wins go this was less than encouraging. Next week we play at Tulane, before hosting Georgia Southern and then beginning ACC play with a trip to Blacksburg.
Are you satisfied with this game? Feeling decent about them moving forward?
