Some sources were reporting Tuesday morning that Georgia Tech DT Jimmie Kitchen had been dismissed from the program. However, FTRS has confirmed with sources close to the program that Kitchen was not dismissed, but was instead only suspended. It is unclear as to why he was suspended or how long the suspension will last at this point, but details are sure to follow in the coming weeks and months.
Kitchen is a career backup, with time recorded in 10 games over the past two seasons and a total of 7 tackles, with 1.5 tackles for loss. He is set to be a redshirt junior this fall, and was not listed in the two-deep of the post-spring depth chart, falling behind fellow defensive tackles Adam Gotsis, Shawn Green, Patrick Gamble, and Francis Kallon. Without Kitchen, Georgia Tech will be left to play with 5 scholarship defensive tackles, including the four players mentioned above, and Darius Commissiong.
Update (3:45pm)
Kelly Quinlan of JacketsOnline has confirmed that Kitchen was, in fact, dismissed from the program, and will not be returning to the team.
