Georgia Tech Football: Jackets Fall to Duke for the First Time in a Decade, Let's Criticize the Referees and All That

Here's to hoping you found enough beer and/or liquor to make this loss feel a little bit better.

Scott Cunningham

Georgia Tech came out and played a weak first half, and yet was only down 14-12 at halftime. That was the good news.

Then there was a 77-minute lightning delay.

Then they came out after halftime and completed the loss.

Here's the thing: credit to Duke for playing a good game and beating us on a lot of one-on-one matchups. They ran the ball on us heavily all day long and did the best job they've done against us in...well...a decade. Also, let's not ignore that rookie mistakes were made by Justin Thomas, and the defense just really struggled to come up with a stop or a big play.

So, now that we've established that Duke likely deserved to win and Georgia Tech didn't play like a team that deserved to win...

How awful were those referees?

I'm going to leave it at that. You know what I mean. I can't remember all of the instances. It doesn't matter. We probably would have lost the game if they were spot-on. Whatever. Let's complain about the referees and everything else.

The dream may be lost after a 5-0 start. We're going to Chapel Hill next week to continue ACC play. How's the grief going?
