Vad Lee & Shaq Mason Named ACC Players of the Week

Lee is Georgia Tech's first ACC Back of the Week since Anthony Allen in 2010.

See below for the official press release on RamblinWreck.com. (Which, if you haven't seen recently, got a really nice-looking facelift.)

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgia Tech sophomore Vad Lee has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Back of the Week, and Yellow Jacket junior Shaquille Mason the ACC's Offensive Lineman of the Week. The conference office is using video to announce the weekly award winners.

Florida State freshman Jameis Winston earned his second ACC Rookie of the Week honor. Other winners included Pitt's Tyler Boyd as ACC Receiver of the Week, Virginia Tech's James Gayle (Defensive Lineman), Maryland's Marcus Whitfield (Linebacker), Terrapin cornerback Dexter McDougle (Defensive Back) and Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo (Specialist).

Lee threw a career-high four touchdown passes and rushed for another score to lead Georgia Tech to a 38-14 road win at Duke in its ACC opener. Lee, playing in his hometown of Durham, led a Yellow Jacket offense that piled up 469 total yards.

Mason paced an offensive line that allowed zero sacks and helped the Yellow Jackets churn out 344 rushing yards and 125 passing yards at Duke. Mason, who had 16 knockdowns Saturday, leads the only offensive line in the nation that has not allowed a sack this season.

Lee and Mason are the first two Yellow Jackets to win ACC honors this season. Both players earned weekly honors for the first time in their careers.

Lee is the first Yellow Jacket to earn Offensive Back of the Week honors since Anthony Allen in 2010. Lee is the first Yellow Jacket QB to earn ACC Offensive Back of the Week honors since Reggie Ball in 2006 (quarterback Jaybo Shaw was the ACC Rookie of the Week in 2008).

Both of these guys are from the same signing class, which is really neat to see how Paul Johnson's recruiting has paid off in the long run.

This is the first time that either of these guys have made this honor. Is it the last time for either, or do you expect to see it again from them?
