GT Football Notes

In the style of the great Ken Sugiura, I present to you some football news tidbits, courtesy of GT sports info.

This has nothing to do with today's story, I just love a good OBC face.

  • The annual Fan Day is set for August 3rd, a mere 17 days from now. You can just taste the football in the air, can't you? As always, the event will begin on Callaway Plaza with games, inflatables, the cheerleaders, Buzz, and The Reck at 3 P.M. Things will then move inside the stadium for autographs from 4:00-5:30P.M. As any of you who planned on attending the pre-spring-game festivities know, be sure to have a rain plan!
  • Tech has five players on preseason award watch lists: Jay Finch (top center), Jeremiah Attaochu (top defensive player x2, top lineman, top LB), Jemea Thomas (top defensive player), Jamal Golden (most versatile player), and Brandon Watts (top LB). There are eight nominations between the young men, with Jerry bringing home the most with four. You can find a complete rundown of all the preseason watch lists here.
  • Raycom sports is putting together a feature on Jeremiah Attaochu. It will include interviews with Jerry, his coaches and teammates, and a little bit of hometown action as the camera crew followed him around Washington, D.C. The piece will air throughout the ACC footprint, and will be televised in Atlanta on WATL-TV July 31st at 6P.M. and August 3rd at 1P.M. You could make August 3rd quite the GT football day! Go here to find when and where the piece will be airing in your area.
  • Two reminders: the next episode of the extraordinarily-well-produced series "The Process" will air on GT Athletic's youtube channel (RamblinWreckTube) this Friday at 10 A.M. Also, ACC media days begin Sunday in Greensboro. Tech is bringing Jerry and Will Jackson. Will has always been a good interview, so be sure to tune into the ACC's livestream of the event!
  • Occasionally, the Sports Information department surveys the players on various amusing topics. Here are the results from the latest of these:

  • Beesball Bonus Tidbit: GT Baseball has invited Carly Rae Jepsen to campus to give a first pitch another try after her...interesting attempt at one last Friday. Let's hope it pans out so all the girls on campus come to a baseball game.
