Monday was a very special day for a couple of our Yellow Jackets -- Shaquille Mason and Jeremiah Attaochu were each named to All-ACC teams. Mason was a first-team All-ACC guard, while Attaochu was a second-team All-ACC defensive end.
Three other Yellow Jackets received honorable mentions -- RBs Robert Godhigh and David Sims, and OG Will Jackson.
Mason's selection extends a streak to 18 years in a row in which Georgia Tech has had a player on the All-ACC first team. He was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the week twice this season.
Attaochu's selection is his first after being named an "honorable mention" selection the past two years. He has recorded 12 sacks on the season and is now up to 31 on his career, tying Greg Gathers for the most in Georgia Tech history. His 12 sacks tie him for 3rd nationally and tie him with Vic Beasley to lead the ACC. He is the first Georgia Tech defender named All-ACC since Julian Burnett was named to the second team in 2011.
Robert Godhigh is averaging 10.1 yards per carry this season and 20 yards per catch. David Sims leads the team with 846 rushing yards and 11 TDs, putting him in the top 70 nationally.
The noticeable snub from this list is Jemea Thomas, one of the best playmakers on the Yellow Jackets' defense. He currently leads the team in tackles (both solo and total tackles) and pass break-ups, and is tied for the team lead with 2 interceptions.
Congratulations to all of our Yellow Jackets on the honors!
