BEESBALL IS BACK! Today is the official start of College Baseball season, and the Yellow Jackets get into action today at 4:00 p.m. as they host the Atlanta Challenge for the third season in a row.

Game 1 vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Probable Pitching Match-up (2017 Stats): So. Xzavion Curry (6-4, 5.34 ERA) vs. R-Jr. Reggie Meyer (5-1, 3.18 ERA)

Last season, the Golden Gophers finished 36-21 (15-8 B1G) and return a good bit of their lineup. Leading that lineup is two infielders: Micah Coffey and Toby Hanson. Last season, Coffey was second on the team in batting average (.340) and had 21 extra-base hits (four home runs) to lead the team in slugging percentage (.493).

Game 2 vs. Bradley Braves

Probable Pitching Match-up (2017 Stats): R-So. Jonathan Hughes (1-2, 5.68 ERA) vs. Jr. Micah Janssen (1-2, 7.53 ERA)

Bradley had a bit of a rough season last year, finishing 20-31 (6-14 Missouri Valley Conference). The Braves’ roster features two preseason All-MVC selections in senior Andrew Ivelia (.261 batting average) and junior Luke Mangieri (.300 batting average, 17 extra-base hits, 35 RBI, 6-7 SB).

Game 3 vs. Connecticut Huskies

Probable Pitching Match-up (2017 Stats): Jr. Jake Lee (4-2, 6.10 ERA) vs. Jr. Chase Gardner (7-1, 2.56 ERA — at College of Marin)

UConn fielded a solid team last year, finishing 33-25 (14-10 AAC) and return a good bit of talent from last year’s squad. The lineup features two preseason All-AAC selections in junior Zac Susi and sophomore Anthony Prato (15-21 SB).
