Tuesday Thoughts 12/12: An Ode to Haynes King

In which we wax poetic.

NCAA Football: Georgia at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

A season of redemption as a helluva engineer,

Haynes King impressed us with his arm and ability to run;

The best quarterback we’ve had in years,

It was a joy seeing him take snaps from shotgun.

* * *

King took the Flats by storm as the star of the team,

His touchdowns were many, his passing yardage was long;

On the ground he was nothing short of supreme,

Thirty-five times this season he let us sing our fight song.

* * *

Of course there were interceptions,

I’m forced to admit;

But focusing on those is a misperception,

Those will improve, I’m sure of it.

* * *

I choose to focus on the amazing things he’s done,

In just one year he’s turned our offense around;

Against other ACC quarterbacks I’d pick him over almost anyone,

Game after game he turned the red zone into his hunting ground.

* * *

2024 should be exciting with him,

I can’t wait to see what he can accomplish;

When he and this offense get in rhythm,

Opposing defenses will be demolished.

* * *

I hope he has a field day at the Gasparilla Bowl,

Something like 300 yards and four touchdowns;

A thorough stomping of UCF would do wonders for my soul,

Only a couple weeks left, start the countdown.
