We had some trouble last week for allowance of picks. Sorry about that I’m still getting used to all this since I’m now taking over. In the future we will stop accepting picks Friday at 4 pm, unless there is a game Thursday night. Here is the current results for the picks last week:

Pick Standings

So… uhh… Last week I posted this:

If we don’t win this game I am going to burn down my house. Georgia Tech wins and covers. — Logan

True to my word, I am now homeless. If anyone has a couch to stay on I would love to be allowed to stay somewhere.

So until I am able to find a place to stay welcome to the Ramblin’ Homeless Picks.

With all that said, here are the picks this week.

Kennesaw State Owls @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (No Spread at time of writing)

Logan: According to ESPN Georgia Tech has a 96% chance of winning this game. To that I say, clearly the experts did not watch the game last week. I’m gonna pick GT for this game in a hope and a prayer situation. We need to really prove something on the field this week, or this will be the last time I pick GT on the year.

Logan’s pick: GT for this article, but if you’re betting money go with KSU.

South Carolina Gamecocks @ Eastern Carolina Pirates (EVEN)

Logan: This is a matchup that people in Greensville are super pumped for. Despite the Pirates not being the most talented team they showed some good things on the field last week against App State. Going up against a South Carolina team that is struggling to field a QB the Pirates really believe they are going to win this game. Vegas seems to agree. This is gonna be a fun match to watch. I’ll take the Pirates in this one over a Gamecocks team that despite winning last week, doesn’t seem to have the best idea of what it is doing on the field. Definitely a heart over head pick.

Logan’s pick: Pirates

Pittsburgh Panthers (-3.5) @ Tennessee Volunteers

Logan: Pitt looked good last week, but so did Tennessee. I struggle every time I look at Tennessee just because their program has been in so much chaos over the recent years that it is hard to pick them. What makes me lean toward Tennessee to cover in this matchup is the lack of consistency from Pitt QB Kenny Pickett. He tends to follow up great weeks with terrible ones. I’m gonna take Tennessee at least to cover, but it should be a close match.

Logan’s pick: Tennessee Covers

Stanford Cardinals @ #15 USC Trojans (-17)

Logan: I’m not gonna over complicate this. Anything can happen in a rivalry game, but the truth is that USC is a top team (in the PAC-12 at least) and Stanford has been on a downward slide for many years now. USC wins and covers.

Logan’s pick: Trojans cover… wear a condom kids

#11 Oregon Ducks @ #4 Ohio State Buckeyes (-14.5)

Logan: Both of these teams struggled more than we thought they would against decent teams last week. Ohio State clearly has more on the field talent, and Oregon is fielding a transfer from Boston College at QB which is not bolstering my confidence. This could easily be one of those games that ends up closer than we think, but on paper it’s the Buckeyes and its not close.

Logan’s pick: Ohio State

Buffalo Bulls @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (-13.5)

Logan: If the spread was closer I would actually struggle to pick this matchup. Buffalo was a great team last year, but they lost their head coach. Nebraska lost to Illinois 2 weeks ago, but should have the talent to beat Buffalo. If I had to pick a winner, this game could go either way. Fortunately Vegas simplified things, because I’m not gonna pick the Cornhuskers to beat anyone by more that 13 points. Bulls cover.

Logan’s pick: Bulls cover

#21 Texas Longhorns (-6.5) @ Arkansas Razorbacks

Logan: It pains me to say this, but Texas looked very good last week against a ranked team. One of the most noticeable things was that Texas put a great effort into shutting down the Louisiana run game. Arkansas beat Rice mainly through use of the run game last Saturday, so this is looking to be a bad matchup for the Razorbacks. I don’t expect Arkansas to keep it close. Hope you like BBQ pork instead of brisket.

Logan’s pick: Texas

NC State Wolfpack (-2.5) @ Mississippi State Cowbells

Logan: Mississippi State struggled last week against Louisiana Tech. Not a great look when now you have to take on a wolfpack team on the rise at home. The close game by Mississippi State is slightly misleading though, if you look at the box score the reason the game seems to be so close was because Mississippi State gave up 6 turnovers. 5 of those turnovers were fumbles. I call that an aberration, I don’t see the Cowbells giving up that many turnovers again. On the other side NC State benefitted from playing a USF team whose freshman QBs seemed lost when they were playing. I don’t foresee NC State, especially with their tendency towards bad luck, to perform the same way in this game. I’m taking the Cowbells to win.

Logan’s pick: Mississippi State

#24 Utah Utes (-7) @ BYU Cougars

Logan: HOLY WARS!

Utah is definitely the better team on paper, and most people are leaning that way. Personally I was more impressed with BYU’s performance last week against a decent Arizona team than I am by the stats Utah put up against Weber State. I think BYU being at home for a rivalry game will give the Cougars enough to at least cover. Going with BYU against my better judgement.

Logan’s pick: BYU covers

#18 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. #7 Iowa State Cyclones (-4.5)

Logan: Iowa looked so good last week against an Indiana team that most people favored in the matchup. If Iowa State is going to take this matchup then their QB Brock Purdy needs to come out the gate looking like Tom Brady. Most people are not thrilled about the Iowa State performance last week, but one take away can be that despite struggles to get the offense going the defense kept the Cyclones in the game. I do think this will be a closer game than people expect, I’m just not sure it’s gonna be as close as the spread Vegas has given... despite how much I like the Cyclones I just don’t see them winning this.

Logan’s pick: Iowa
