What technological advancement made you go wow?

Now that Bobby Dodd Stadium is gonna have 100% capacity and full in-person tailgating, what can we do to make sure the Georgia Tech Band is also free to play around campus and on the field this year? - Anuj Bhyravabhotla

Ben: Carter is probably your best bet at getting messages to the band.

Jake: I will help with what little internet clout I have, but only if they come to the swim club tailgate and only play the Budweiser song. Apparently, sometimes things I write get noticed.

Carter: Look for Chris Moore to give the slow, silent nod of approval.

Will there be any new uniform designs this year? - Notwima13

Ben: I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some sort of new kind of uniform this year, either a new combo or a slightly altered jersey.

Jake P.: I assume that Collins will have some sort of crazy idea for a uniform that has nothing to do with the tradition of the institution.

Jake: Based on the grey, the old school gold with the big navy numbers, and the black, I would assume there’s at least one one-off type uniform, or even two. What those could be, I do not know. Wouldn’t mind a super old throwback, though, or like something with a giant block T on it, but there’s no chance it’s on their radar as “cool” if it’s something I’m into.

Andrew: Probably, and as the resident old man that yells at clouds, I already hate it.

Carter: So I’m not going to look this up right now (maybe I will), but I remember a couple years ago reading Tech got this current uniform set for three years, which would mean they’re due for a refresh this year. Not 100% sure if COVID would have affected things, or if that was ever actually true in the first place.

Also, what new crazy color are they going to introduce to the scheme? - CTjacket

Ben: You can find all of the official Georgia Tech brand colors here: Would you look at that? Black is not listed there. Hm...

Jake P.: A wild card here: green. Not sure for what, but Adidas and Tech’s branding department will figure something out.

Jake: In Jake world, we banish the grey and black back to the shadow realm, not introduce any more colors!

Carter: Blurple.

I see that GCG is still pretty active in the transfer portal. From everything I have read we are in on A LOT of 4 and 5 star guys. Is he doing his due diligence or are we not likely to land the 5 stars? - Notwima13

Ben: I’m sure a lot of it is due diligence, but I wouldn’t pay much attention to star ratings looking at transfer players. Those ratings are from high school and do not reflect where they are at now. Anything that mentions star ratings is purely for optics.

Jake: I mean, it seems like things have ticked up. From what little I do know, I can’t really tell if any of that will actually translate, though.

Have you been keeping up with Jordan Yates on his TikTok? - Notwima13

Ben: I have not, because I barely know how to use TikTok.

Jake: No. Should I?

Carter: I believe I am above the maximum legal age to have TikTok.

Ben (again): Carter, Mark Hamill and Gordon Ramsey are both on TikTok, and they are both older than you, so you can absolutely still get in on it!

Hello everyone,

Are y’all enjoying your spring. Has it sprung like Sir Mix-Alot when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist and a round thing in his face? The dead fish smelling trees have stopped smelling where I’m at, which means its time for the annual gas shortage. It was so horrible, I had to work from home because my car didn’t have enough fuel to drive in. I can’t remember the last time I had to work from home. like 1, maybe 2 weeks ago. Life’s difficult like that.

Question. I don’t want to comment on the current ethical or political rights or wrongs with the Israel/Palestine/Hamas conflict (that would take forever and cause many problems), but I do want to talk about the iron dome system and how cool it is. You have a defense system that can intercept missiles, like that is so cool. Its kind of crazy thinking how it’s like the video game missile command, feels kind of futuristic. I first saw that succeeding in action against all the fired missiles it blew my mind. but I digress...

My question is, what was the last time you saw a piece of technology that made you go “wow, that’s really cool.” As tech graduates/students I feel like we should be more aware of crazy technology, but knowing and being able to talk about it are not the same things.

Hope y’all have a peaceful week.

-Simple ole’ peanut farmer Jimmy Carter (submitted via email)

Ben: I still get wowed by a lot of modern technology, but I did see this recently on Twitter. Ford is working on a fully electric F-150!

Jake P.: I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a piece of technology that made me stop and go, “wow, that’s really cool.” Honestly, it might’ve been Apple’s FaceID when it first came out, that was really something to watch.

Jake: I was grinning like an idiot the first time I got onto the LGV Grand Est on the way from Metz to Paris when I was at Georgia Tech Lorraine. Hitting like 300 kmph was something else, and, plus, I’m a big transport geek. That was like three years ago, so it feels a little lame to say I haven’t been wowed like that since then. But, really, that was like getting that “first flight” feeling all over again.
