The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball team is heading to North Carolina this weekend to take on the Wolfpack. The first game will be today and starts at 3:00 PM. It’s a three game series extending into the weekend with games on both Saturday and Sunday. As the article mentions, this series will open up the Yellow Jackets ACC play for the season. Good luck to them this in this weekend series.

This #ProJackets report of former Yellow Jackets now in the NBA features several familiar faces. Their names include Thaddeus Young, Derrick Favors, Josh Okogie, and Iman Shumpert. Young has been playing particularly well for the Chicago Bulls. I like the nickname he’s earned: “Thadgic”. In some of the other news mentioned, it’s unfortunate to hear Shumpert was waived by the Nets. Regardless, he has had a pretty good run in the NBA. In all honesty, I haven’t been paying close attention to the NBA as of late, so the Favors news was a bit surprising to me as I hadn’t realized the Utah Jazz were doing so well this season. First place ahead of the Lakers? I wasn’t expecting that.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets softball team. But the good thing is, all their games will be at home. A double-header against Miami (Ohio) will start things off today. Then on Saturday the Yellow Jackets will host the Kennesaw State Owls. Finally on Sunday, it will be Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate as the team will host its in-state rivals from Athens. At 5-6 overall, the softball team is looking to get back to .500 overall (or better). Good luck to them in this weekend’s four games.

This AJC piece on Ryan Johnson was an interesting read and provided some insight into the culture that Tech head coach Geoff Collins has helped bring to The Flats. It’s encouraging to hear a player speak about a program the way Johnson does about Tech in this article. I’m not sure if the Yellow Jackets are quite ready to compete for championships just yet, but it does seem they are on the right track.
