Georgia Tech kicked off its 2023 recruiting class on Thursday morning, picking up the commitment of running back Javin Simpkins. Simpkins plans to come to the Flats from Norland High School in Miami, FL. He is a Kerry Dixon recruit and shows the work the staff is doing connecting early in the process with kids.
I am honored and proud to say I am committed to the Institute of Georgia Tech. #togetherwestorm @JerryRecruiting @TheCribSouthFLA @larryblustein @Coach_K2 @coachchoice @CoachCollins pic.twitter.com/xOLxY3n9aC

Like most of the 2023 class, Simpkins is currently unrated by the major recruiting services. He did earn All-Dade honors for his play this past season, one of only four sophomores to do so. He racked up 1,124 total yards and 10 touchdowns in a mere 7 game season last fall.
His film is outstanding. Small in stature, he shows a great burst in the open field and makes tacklers miss left and right. He is elusive in the hole and then quick to turn up the field. He’s a very good route runner and pass catcher. Georgia Tech appears to have done excellent work getting in early on this prospect. Coach Choice keeps building the pipeline into his running back room, and this could be a great early get for the 2023 class.
