The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team put up another good fight against a ninth ranked University of Virginia Cavaliers team. And, yet again, the Yellow Jackets came up short in what for the most part was a close game that could have easily gone either way. The final score was 57-49. The Cavaliers pulled away in the final minutes of the game despite a valiant effort by the Yellow Jackets. Only two Yellow Jackets scored in double figures — Jordan Usher with 12 points and Jose Alvarado who had 18 points. Michael Devoe struggled offensively for Tech as defense played a key factor in the game for both teams. The Yellow Jackets forced 10 turnovers and their defense limited their opponent to only two players scoring in double figures as well. While it’s disappointing that Tech lost the game, it is encouraging that they can continue to play on a highly competitive level against a top 10 team like UVA.
This article provides a little more in depth look at Derrick Moore as he moves on from his time at Tech to take on his new role at the University of South Carolina. Moore had quite an impact and it’s evident from some of the comments by former players mentioned in the article. I’m sure Moore will continue to have a positive impact at USC.
A warm welcome to Nick Ascue who was named as the director of operations for the baseball team. Tech head coach Danny Hall made the announcement of the hire on Wednesday. As part of his duties, Ascue will oversee Georgia Tech baseball’s Player Development Center, assisting in the design and research of player development models, as the article points out. Welcome to The Flats.
