As much as I enjoy reading and writing about football (in particular Georgia Tech football), I have to admit it can become a difficult task when it involves discussing a favorite team like the Yellow Jackets during a season like this one. After the loss to Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech has now dropped its second game in a row since its bye week and now stands at 3-5 overall with any hopes of winning the ACC Coastal dead and buried.

Discouraging as it is to think about the team’s prospects for the remainder of the season (a bowl game is nearly impossible given the teams remaining on its schedule), it doesn’t feel as bad when considering a discussion from earlier in the season. Near the start of the season, we discussed how this season was more like head coach Geoff Collins’ second season — the first being kind of his Year 0. In such a season, it would be within expectations for the team to lose games and to lose them by close margins. Not counting the Pitt loss, the Yellow Jackets have done a pretty good job at keeping games close even when they are likely not going to be the victor. With that said, this season doesn’t have to be as much of a disappointment as some may feel it is.

In this AJC article, Collins provides his own take on things, in case you’d like to get his perspective. Also, there is an opportunity for Tech to bounce back when it faces Miami on the road. Sure, Miami is probably the natural favorite, but Tech has had a way of performing better while on the road. Here’s an article with details on that game. With that said, that’s about all the football coverage there is for today’s Tidbits. The featured articles will be focusing on other sports.

Who doesn’t like talking about baseball? Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball announced that it will be selling season tickets as the article discusses. The price for season tickets starts at $175 which is not too bad at all.

There will be a lot of familiar faces on this year’s team. Hopefully, they can have continued success and end up making a deep playoff run. The Yellow Jackets have back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament and are looking to make it three in a row. Their season starts on Friday, February 18th. The holidays come and go very fast, so before we know it, we’ll be in the baseball season. It’s never too early to get your tickets!

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets volleyball team has had a pretty good season so far. They’re currently ranked 14th and have an overall record of 19-3. They most recently defeated the Wolfpack of North Carolina State — their second win of a four-game homestand.

Tech will have two more home games before it heads on the road to face Louisville. The Yellow Jackets remain perfect on the road with a 9-0 record. Good luck to them as they host Miami this Friday.

One final note. Congratulations to the WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS ATLANTA BRAVES!
