It’s week 5 and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team is at .500 after a stunning win over the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Yellow Jackets will be hosting the Pittsburgh Panthers at Bobby Dodd Stadium this weekend. This article goes into some of the details of the game and brings up some extraneous matters as well.
The whole Collins-Narduzzi beef, or whatever it was, seems more about building hype or having a subplot to talk about for the game. In my opinion, whether it was true or not and whether the two coaches have buried the hatchet or not is besides the point. Both head coaches are at the helm of programs seeking to gain a dominant role in the ACC’s Coastal Division, not just for this season, but for the years ahead as well. Because of this, the rivalry between Georgia Tech and Pitt seems to be more and more relevant each year. And the intensity in their matchup promises what should be a heck of a game.
The Yellow Jackets last win against the Panthers came in the 2017 season. Interestingly enough, not including last week’s win over #21 UNC, 2017 was also the last season the team had beaten a ranked team. Saturday’s game will be another great gauge of just where this team stands. Winning is one thing, it definitely builds morale and confidence for the team. Winning on a consistent basis is what will get this team to where it wants to be.
As we get well into autumn, the collegiate sports world becomes more and more active. The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team will begin their fall season this weekend. As the article mentions, their schedule was announced yesterday The ITA All-American Championships get underway tomorrow and will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Some of the other tournaments the team will take part in include The Bulldawg Championships, the Commodore Invitational, the ITA Regional Championships, and the annual GT Fall Invitational. The fall season only lasts through November and will end with the ITA Fall Nationals that will be held in San Diego, California. Good luck to the men’s tennis team as they get their fall season underway tomorrow.
