Technical Tidbits 1/26: Tech vs. Louisville Rescheduled To February 1 @2PM

Tech faces Louisville on February 1.

The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced the date and time for the Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team’s postponed game against Louisville. As the article mentions, the game originally was scheduled for January 9 but was postponed due to Covid-19 related protocols. Based on yesterday’s announcement, the game has been rescheduled for Monday February 1. The tip-off time is set for 2:00 PM and the game will be televised by the ACC Network. Other Tech games that were postponed still don’t have a rescheduled date, though further announcements should come. The Yellow Jackets are in Durham today to face off against the Duke Blue Devils. Tip-off for today’s game is set for 9:00 PM. #GoJackets

Tech’s student-athletes continue to excel both on and off the field. This is evident through the accolades that they continue to receive. In this case, Jalen Camp and Ryan Johnson were named to the 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference all-academic football team. Both of them earned a 3.0 grade point average last semester and have maintained a cumulative 3.0 over their academic careers (the minimum requirements to be eligible for the team). Congratulations to both Camp and Johnson for their continued success at student-athletes at Tech.

It was such a good game this past weekend between Georgia Tech and UVA. In the closing minutes it appeared Tech would pull off another upset of a ranked team. Unfortunately, the Cavaliers were able to squeak by. Regardless of the loss, this Yellow Jacket basketball looks like it has what it takes to compete at a high level and with quality teams.

Georgia Tech football head coach Geoff Collins announced the team’s plan to temporarily retire the number 44 in honor of Hank Aaron who passed away over the weekend. It’s not exactly a new story here, but I thought it was a nice tip of the hat to Aaron by Tech and the other local teams (including the Falcons and Atlanta United). Aaron was a World Champion, Hall of Famer, and all around inspirational figure in the sporting world and beyond and such an honor is more than deserved.
