After spending time at running back and linebacker, Jerry Howard is transferring away from the Georgia Tech Football program. As a running back with the Jackets, Howard had 858 rushing yards with 7 touchdowns and 165 receiving yards and a touchdown. Howard played a secondary role in the Tech offense behind RB Jordan Mason. At linebacker, Howard had four tackles this season. He was also heavily used on special teams, blocking two punts in 2019. Howard is the 16th player to transfer out of the Yellow Jacket program so far this year. Best of luck, Jerry!
It seems like the Tech Men’s Basketball team is starting a brand new season after such a long COVID-induced layoff! The Jackets finally return to action tonight in Atlanta against the Clemson Tigers. Clemson is having one of their best seasons in years so far, sitting at 9-2 with their only losses coming against no. 13 Virginia and no. 16 Virginia Tech. Tech was in the middle of a great run of basketball before the longest in-season gap between play (17 days) in the team’s history. This will be a tough match-up, but is winnable if Josh Pastner & co. don’t show too much rust. You can watch the game starting at 7 p.m. ET on RSNs.
After ending the first round in seventh place, the Tech Men’s Golf team finished right where they started in the Camp Creek Invitational. The Jackets completed the tournament at +7 overall, 29 strokes behind winner (and host) Florida State. Tech’s highest individual finisher was Will Dickson, who ended up T15 at -1. Luka Karaulic, the team’s leader after the first round, finished the tournament at T25 (+3). The Jackets will return to action next week at the Southwestern Invitational in Westlake Village, CA.
Like the men’s basketball team, the Tech women are having COVID-19 troubles of their own. Their game scheduled for last Saturday against N.C. State was postponed, and their schedule has been updated as a result of other reshuffling. Tomorrow’s game against Wake Forest is having its start time moved back from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET (ACCN). The Jackets will now face Florida State at McCamish Pavilion this Sunday (1 p.m. ET, ACCNX) and will go to Tallahassee for a game against the ‘Noles on February 18 (6 p.m. ET). Let’s hope these are the last of the COVID-19 issues the conference will face.
Welcome to the 4️⃣0️⃣4️⃣, Coach Smith! #4the404 /// @AtlantaFalcons https://t.co/QI29d72XX3

Even though I’m a Panthers fan, it’s great to see some interaction between Atlanta’s two football teams (Atlanta United not included).
Question of the Day: Any predictions for tonight’s basketball game?
