With the Yellow Jackets football team having a much needed bye week, today’s Tidbits will actually feature some non-football related news. Not that a reprieve from Tech football news is a bad thing given the circumstances of the last two weeks.
In some pro-Jackets news, two former Yellow Jackets are playoff bound as the MLB playoffs are underway. Former Tech baseball catcher Matt Wieters is representing the Yellow Jackets in the playoffs as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. Also in the playoffs and serving as a bullpen catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers is former Tech player Johnathan Langley.
This was a short article on Yellow Jackets assistant basketball coach Anthony Wilkins. It features a short video in which Andy Demetra interviews Wilkins. He breaks down how the Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team has handled its training and preparation during the pandemic and also how the team is getting ready for the upcoming season. The season schedule is still uncertain though some games do have dates specified, including the Holiday Hoopsgiving game where Tech will host Kentucky on Friday, November 27th.
Here’s a short video featuring the Yellow Jackets softball team. The season isn’t due to start until 2021, but it is never too early to practice for the upcoming season.
As if Tech’s secondary didn’t get burned enough in the Yellow Jackets disappointing loss to the Syracuse Orange last week, there’s more bad news for this group. Three star Safety Shawn Chappell announced yesterday that he is no longer committed to Georgia Tech. Interestingly enough, Chappell is reported to have an offer from Syracuse, as the article mentions.
This catch by @calvinjohnsonjr is still insane
