Well, it’s official. The kickoff times for two of the Yellow Jackets’ football games have been set. The Yellow Jackets will face the Florida State Seminoles and the kickoff will be at 3:30 PM on September 12. That game will be on the road. The following week the Yellow Jackets will have their home opener as they host UCF. Kickoff for that game is also set for 3:30 PM. #GoJackets
Ahmarean Brown is just one of those players you can’t help but speculate about. Right now, as the article points out, the expectations are high for the Yellow Jackets starting slot receiver. Brown had as good of a freshman season as you could wish for. According to the article he has made improvements to his game over the offseason break. He has also bulked up a bit as the coaches wanted him to. His hard work has paid off so far as he’s earned a single-digit jersey. The season opener is not far off, and we’ll soon be able to see Brown and the Yellow Jackets in action.
Choosing whether to play this season or opt-out has to be a big decision for an athlete. Tariq Carpenter chose the former as the article points out. The extra year of eligibility that the NCAA is granting all players is a smart move. Players like Carpenter who have decided to play this season will be exposed to a greater risk of missing games because of the coronavirus. So it’s fair that they get an extra year of eligibility. On a completely unrelated note, I’m curious to see how all this plays out over the next few years, in particular how it affects both the NFL draft should most players choose the play an extra year.
So for Tech students out there who are looking to attend one more more of the Yellow Jackets’ six home games, you’ll need a little bit of luck. The school announced it will be using a lottery based system to distribute student tickets. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is being limited to 11,000 fans per game, or twenty percent of Bobby Dodd Stadium’s capacity.
Congratulations to Yellow Jacket offensive lineman Jordan Williams on being selected to 247Sports’ 2020 preseason true freshman all-America team!
