As the article states, the ACC has made some upgrades to its COVID-19 testing plans. For football players the additional measures will include a requirement to be tested before and after games. There is also additional cardiac evaluations and testing that will be done as certain heart conditions have been linked to coronavirus infections. This all makes good sense and hopefully it will prevent the spread of COVID-19 among athletes during sporting events and activities.

Georgia state champion Rachel Fulton has committed to the Georgia Tech swim team. The Lakeside High School swimmer will be part of the 2021 recruiting class. As the article mentions, Fulton was the Georgia Class 6A State Champion in the 50 free in 2020. Welcome to the Flats!

In more recruiting news, the swim team picked up another big commitment. This one from an international student. Turkish national champion Defne Tacyildiz has given a verbal commitment to the Yellow Jackets. She would join Tech as part of the 2021 recruiting class. Welcome to the Flats!

From reading this article it’s obvious that Georgia Tech basketball head coach Josh Pastner had a special relationship with his mentor and former coach Lute Olson who passed away last week. Olson had quite a career and he was able to lead Arizona to a national championship during Pastner’s freshman season. The anecdote regarding Pastner going undefeated as a player and Olson’s awareness of this was interesting. Clearly, as a coach, Olson cared about his players.

Everyone geared up for the upcoming season?
