Technical Tidbits 8/3: Former Tech Star To Play Abroad

It’s good to keep up with former Yellow Jacket student athletes and follow their professional careers beyond their time at Tech. This article features news about James Banks signing with an Israeli team. As a Yellow Jacket, Banks twice received ACC all-defensive team honors. Banks was a dominant player at Tech and particularly on defense. He will surely have success abroad and we’ll be looking forward to the latest update when it’s available.

As the article points out, the first of August is an important time of the recruiting cycle as it marks the point where coaches can officially begin offering scholarships. As the several Twitter posts in the article implies, it’s an important time for the recruits in particular. Congratulations to the 2021 scholarships recipients.

In case you missed it over the weekend, this article features some of the schedule from the GT Takeover of the ACC Network that started on Friday. I’ll be honest, not having the ACC Network, I missed out on the action. For those of you who did watch, what was your favorite program or recast game?

While sports fans are excited about the partial return of sports, some medical professionals seem to be more skeptical that everything will go as planned. At least, that’s the main gist of what the article is saying. Personally, non-conference games or not, it will be great to see some games take place. The NCAA along with the conferences seem to have their safety guidelines in place. Hopefully there will be little to no spread of the virus — it’s almost certain to happen as the likelihood of some cases being missed will more than likely happen.
