Mandatory practice begins at Tech.

In what was their first practice since March, the Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team was together on the court this week for mandatory on-court training. With the COVID-19 pandemic imposing restrictions on social distancing and other aspects of day-to-day life, basketball practice was no different. Disinfectants and sanitizers on hand, you can say the team took as many precautions as it could to ensure the health and safety of its student athletes. Hopefully everything continues to go well and the season kicks off as planned on November 12.

The recent commitment by Sebastian Sagar to the Yellow Jackets came as a lot of changes in the 2021 class rankings took place. The surprise in this article for me was to hear that Alabama was at one point in the 30s (and now back up to No. 7). Tech is currently 5th in the ACC according to the article. UNC at first was a surprise but seeing Tech at 5th was a bit disappointing. I imagine Geoff Collins and his coaching staff will continue to aggressively recruit more talent so Tech can potentially move up in the rankings and improve their overall 2021 class.

It wasn’t long ago that we were talking about Jordan Mason being on the preseason watchlist for one of the awards for best running back. Now there’s news that senior punter Pressley Harvin III is on the watchlist for the Ray Guy Award as released by the Augusta Sports Council. Harvin definitely deserves the attention as does Mason as they are definitely among the best at their positions. Congratulations to Harvin.

The title says enough in this article, support the Swarm Fund. It’s definitely for a good cause considering the financial uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
