The 2021 class is about capable of fielding an offensive line by itself. Giving Georgia Tech its fourteenth commit and third offensive lineman is Eli Richey. Eli comes from Southern Academy in Greensboro, AL as a 3-star per 247 with other P5 offers from Missouri and West Virginia. His school plays in one of the smaller classifications in Alabama but finished 10-1 and a state title. At 6’5” and 280 pounds Eli has the frame to bulk up to be the size offensive line coach Brent Key wants on the interior. If anymore offensive linemen commit this year Tech could be in store for a massive offensive line in a few years.
Eli’s highlights show his biggest strength to be in the run game. His style reflects an aggressive player who enjoys initiating contact and isn’t afraid to throw somebody to the ground even after the play has moved away. His stance is a little high but that isn’t uncommon among the high school ranks and can be worked on at the higher level. There wasn’t a lot in the passing game as it appears his high school team runs an option based offense.
