Jahmyr Gibbs was the top recruit in Geoff Collins’ first full class as Georgia Tech’s Head Coach. Gibbs is also the highest-rated recruit to come to the Flats since Justin Thomas in the class of 2012. The article above, from FTRS’ own Levi Warner, takes an in-depth look into Gibbs’ potential in Atlanta. In short, he looks very, very promising. Hopefully, there will actually be a college football season so we can watch Gibbs (and the rest of the Yellow Jackets) demonstrate their abilities.

Georgia Tech alum Jarrett Jack last played in the NBA for the New York Knicks in 2018. Since then, Jack has played with the Miami Heat’s G-League squad, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. It was not likely that Jack would get a call from a NBA team to join them in the “Orlando bubble” when the season restarts in July. So, Jack will be playing in “The Basketball Tournament” with the four-time champions of the tournament, “Overseas Elite.” This is an interesting career move for Jack, with the chance at a good payout if his team wins. Good luck, Jarrett!
Francesca Pan came from Italy to Atlanta to become one of the best women’s basketball players in Georgia Tech history. After four seasons, Pan will head back to Italy to continue her basketball career, signing a contract with the team Umana Reyer Venezia. The team is located in Venice, Italy, about an hour from Pan’s hometown in Bassano del Grappa. With the Yellow Jackets, Pan was named the 2016-17 ACC Freshman of the Year, made the ACC Academic Honor Roll four times, and was placed on the 2019-20 all-ACC second team. Not to mention her being sixth all-time in program history for scoring and second in three-pointers made. Congratulations, Francesca!
I think Bria Matthews might have broken the record for most academic awards and accolades ever won by a Tech athlete. Her most recent academic recognition is from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Matthews was named to the 2020 Academic All-America Division I Track & Field/Cross Country third team. What an accomplishment!
At Georgia Tech in 2010, Kristine Priebe helped lead the softball team to its best season in years with the ACC regular season and tournament titles. In 2011, Priebe once again brought the Jackets to the ACC regular season title and a regional hosting gig. After an incredible softball career on the Flats, Priebe became a firefighter. Working in Los Angeles, Priebe still gets to experience the joys of working with a team while helping people each day. Thank you for all of your hard work, Kristine!
Even though it wasn’t before a night game at Bobby Dodd Stadium, Derrick Moore still gave a great speech to the Georgia State House of Representatives. It’s worth a watch.
Question of the Day: What do you think about Jahmyr Gibbs?
