On the recruiting front, the week is off to a good start with another commitment to the football team’s 2021 class. There will be another quarterback on the depth chart as three star prospect Chayden Peery has committed to the Yellow Jackets. Peery of Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles is rated the 23rd pro-style quarterback of the 2021 class as pointed out in the article. Part of Peery’s motivation on choosing Tech over other power five schools included “the vision sold by Tech coaches through video-conference calls”. Clearly the Tech coaches are doing their job recruiting under the difficult circumstances imposed on them by the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s not even a month since former Yellow Jacket tight end Tyler Davis was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is a great article that provides more depth and background into Davis’s story, including his transition from being a quarterback to a tight end, his transferring to Tech, and his future prospect as a professional.

Memorial Day has come and gone. While it is a special day of remembrance of the nation’s war-heroes, those who lost their lives in service to their country, the sentiments last the year round. As mentioned in the article, it is a repost of an earlier piece written 10 years ago by Wes Durahm in recognition of one of Tech’s heroes, Clint Castleberry. Castleberry was a star football player for the Yellow Jackets who left his mark on and off the field. As mentioned in the article, he lost his life on November 7, 1944 while serving with the Army Air Corps.

After the recent commitments of Chayden Peery and Westlake High offensive tackle Jakiah Leftwich, the Yellow Jackets are on a roll! With an offensive lineman and a quarterback now the most recent commitments, what position do you think will be committing next?
