The Yellow Jackets men’s basketball team will be losing one of their more experienced players. Rising senior Evan Cole announced yesterday via Twitter that he would be transferring to Utah Valley University as a graduate transfer as reported in the AJC. Cole seemed to have quite a positive impact on his coaches as the article suggests. Good luck to him as he heads out west to Utah.
So, I’m not sure what’s up with the link to the article, it wasn’t working so I’m including a link to the SI Georgia Tech page and here’s the link to the story titled Greatest Yellow Jackets in the NFL: Keith Brooking itself, in case it’s working now. Anyhow, this article is part of an SI series that looks back at former Yellow Jackets who had outstanding careers in the NFL. This particular edition focuses on Keith Brooking who played for the Yellow Jackets during the mid to late 90s. Interestingly as the cover photo suggests, Brooking would stick around the Atlanta area after being drafted as the 12th selection in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He played in the NFL as a middle linebacker for well over 10 seasons which is quite impressive.
In this look back at the 2019 basketball season, the focus is on Jose Alvarado and some of his stronger performances. As the article mentions he was named ACC Player of the Week and helped the Yellow Jackets to a strong finish after being out earlier in the season due to an ankle injury. Looking to next season, Alvarado should be a key figure.
