Technical Tidbits: Yellow Jackets Sting Panthers 73-57

Tech’s men’s basketball team wins big on Senior Night.

NCAA Basketball: Pittsburgh at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Yellow Jackets men’s basketball dominated Pittsburgh last night. The final score was 73-57. It was Senior Night and the last home game of the season for the Yellow Jackets. Tech’s two seniors James Banks and Shembari Phillips were honored during the evening. Though they couldn’t make it to postseason play, they did help their team clinch its first .500 record in ACC play in 13 years, as the article mentions. Congratulations to the Yellow Jackets seniors and the rest of the basketball team.

This Twitter post says it all — a wire to wire win for the Yellow Jackets over Pittsburgh last night. Impressive!

This was a good article on Nell Fortner and the spectacular job she has done in her first year as the head coach of the Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team. Tech finished the regular season at 19-10 overall and 10-8 in the ACC. As pointed out in the article, that was enough for a seventh place finish in the ACC. Tonight, they begin ACC tournament play against Pittsburgh. The Yellow Jackets are a bubble-team and will need a strong showing in the ACC tournament to make their case for the NCAA tournament. Good luck to the Yellow Jackets as they make their push for an NCAA bid tonight!

Two members of the Yellow Jackets track and field team have qualified for the 2020 NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships. Congratulations to long-distance runner Nicole Fegans and jumper Bria Matthews! The competition takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 13 and 14.

Due to the ceaseless rainfall in the Atlanta area, my hopes of playing a round of golf this week have been dashed once again Georgia Tech’s baseball game against Georgia State University last night had to be postponed. The make up game will be played on May 6th, assuming it’s not raining then.
