Technical Tidbits 3/3: Yellow Jackets Men’s Basketball Team Drops NCAA Appeal

Tech announces it will drop its appeal of NCAA post-season ban; season ends Friday night.

NCAA Basketball: Miami-Florida at Georgia Tech Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

At the end of the day, Georgia Tech’s basketball program’s decision to drop its appeal and forfeit any hope of making the NCAA tournament this season is probably the right move. As the article points out, Tech won’t be participating in the ACC tournament as a consequence of the post-season ban taking effect. So this week is essentially the last week of the basketball season for the Yellow Jackets. They will finish off with road games against Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Clemson on Friday. Winning those two games and finishing above .500 in the ACC for the first time since 2004 would be a bitter-sweet ending to the season.

Congratulations to Yellow Jackets women’s basketball player Francesca Pan. Yesterday she was named to the All-ACC second team and as an All-ACC honorable mention by conference head coaches and the Blue Ribbon Panel, respectively.

With the basketball season all but being over, the timing of the Yellow Jackets football team’s spring practice couldn’t have been better. This morning will be the first of the 15 practice sessions the team will hold culminating in the Spring Game which will take place on the evening of Friday, April 10th at Bobby Dodd Stadium. It’s hard to believe that it’s already nearly one year since the last Spring Game in what was Geoff Collins’ first season as Tech’s head coach. Before you know it, the football season will be here.

With spring practice under way, it’s never too soon to start speculating about who will be the Yellow Jackets’ starting quarterback. I tend to agree with this article and would put my money on James Graham, at least, leading up to Spring Game. Things can quickly change though; that’s college football. One thing is for sure, it should be an interesting story that continues to develop over the next few months. With all that said, who do you think will be the starting quarterbacks for the Spring Game?
