Luckily for Georgia Tech, DL recruit Grey Carroll visited campus just a few days before the NCAA issued a month-long recruiting dead period in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The high school junior from Alcoa, Tennessee seemed to have liked Tech, especially DL coach Larry Knight. Carroll talked about the different aspects of his visit in the article, including his observation of one of the last spring practices before the COVID-19 hiatus.
Earlier this week it was reported that Josh Pastner had reached out to grad transfer big man Kevin Marfo from Quinnipiac. Pastner didn’t stop there, as it is now being reported that Pastner has been in contact with Ohio State transfer DJ Carton. Carton was a point guard who got significant playing time as a freshman last season, averaging 10.4 points a game. If Carton did come to Tech, it would be great for the guard depth situation, especially after the transfer of Asanti Price. Carton would also most likely be Jose Alvarado’s successor, and could benefit from a year under his passion and energy.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most large group events have been cancelled or postponed. The Georgia Tech Volleyball Auction Dinner falls into the latter category, with a new date of April 24th. The dinner will take place at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, and it will be a great experience for anyone wishing to support a great team with high goals next season. I really want to find out what “Yellow Jacket reverse bingo” is.
Eva Lee is a professor at Georgia Tech and a legendary researcher in the mass disease field. Lee has helped many nations combat diseases, and is currently assisting in the global response to COVID-19. Despite all of this, in December 2019, Lee pled guilty to falsifying a report behind a large grant given by the National Science Foundation. This is an extremely difficult situation for all involved, especially Lee, who isn’t allowed to access her files and work at Georgia Tech due to her felony conviction. Some of those files could contain life-saving work, or solutions to many of the problems we are currently facing. This is a very good article, and I don’t want to give too much more away. It’s well worth a read.
If you aren’t social distancing because you don’t believe it helps stop the spread of diseases, think again. Read this article to learn why social distancing is important in keeping people healthy.
Question of the Day: Are you social distancing properly?
