Technical Tidbits 3/11: Tech Baseball wins

NCAA Basketball: Georgia Tech at Clemson Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Jackets traveled down I-85 to the Plains to face the number 14 ranked Auburn Tigers. Tech held a Tigers team that was leading the nation in batting average to 4 hits, including keeping them hit-less through the last 3. Dalton Smith picked up the win to improve his record on the year to 3-0. Baron Radcliff led the Jacket hitters, going 2-3 with a solo home run and and RBI double as Tech won 6-2. The Jackets will travel to Tallahassee this weekend to face the number 16 ranked Seminoles.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Tech C Evan Cole would be entering his name into the transfer portal. The junior was in a good position for a starting role next season with the departure of James Banks. This year, Cole averaged 4.4 points a game and 3.6 rebounds. During his time at Tech, Cole had some memorable moments, like this incredible dunk against UNC. Cole’s departure means that Josh Pastner will definitely be looking for a graduate transfer post player, with Moses Wright the only player returning that has received significant playing time. Thanks for everything, Evan! We here at FTRS wish you nothing but the best!

This was a very insightful read. The NFLPA’s externship program provides opportunities for current NFL players to prepare for life after football by offering short, but informative, externships at numerous organizations around the country. Georgia Tech’s externship was recently completed by Buffalo Bills RB Patrick DiMarco and Chicago Bears CB Rashard Fant. They seemed to have learned a lot from the program, and from their final presentation to a group of student-athletes, seem to have taught a lot of things as well.

Kenya Jones has been on fire for the Georgia Tech Women’s Tennis team. The senior has been named ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season, is currently ranked as the no. 20 individual in college for tennis, and is 3-1 against top-10 opponents this spring. Congratulations, Kenya! Keep up the good work!

I had heard that Mark Richt would be visiting Georgia Tech Tuesday, but I had no idea he would put on a pullover with Tech’s logo. It was a very strange sight, especially considering Richt’s domination of Tech during his time at u(sic)GA and for two of his three years at Miami. At least he wasn’t wearing red, black, orange, or green.

Question of the Day: What do you think about Evan Cole transferring?
