Going into the N.C. State game this weekend, the biggest question mark and point of speculation regarding Georgia Tech will be the status of Jahmyr Gibbs. He left the Duke game with a perceived hamstring injury and was later seen on the sidelines with the aid of crutches. Up to this point Gibbs has been having a spectacular season averaging 138.3 yards per game — good enough to rank him fourth in the ACC. Even if Gibbs is not able to participate in this week’s game, the Yellow Jackets do have a lot of depth at the running back position with Jordan Mason and Jamious Griffin both being viable starters. Regardless, let’s hope Gibbs’ injury is not too serious and he get back to good health.

This AJC article provides some insight into Yellow Jackets offensive coordinator Dave Patenaude’s decision to move to the sidelines. Up to the Duke game last week, Patenaude would be perched up in the coaches box and call the games from there. According to the article, the decision has been in the works all season. Patenaude felt that being on the field would allow for better communication with the players, in particular freshman quarterback Jeff Sims. It seems we should expect him to be on the sidelines for the N.C. State game. It will be interesting to see the impact of this move going forward.

This series features a Q&A with one of the Yellow Jackets volleyball players. This article focuses on Grace Rigsbee. There’s some interesting questions and answers as always. Apparently Rigsbee is a Micahel Jordan fan and likes to vacation in Hawaii. The volleyball team wrapped up their 2020 season last month with a victory over Clemson.

The Yellow Jackets women’s basketball team will be hosting Tulane tonight at McCamish Pavilion. Tech is 1-1 on the season after two games. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. The tipoff time is set for 6:00 PM. As the article points out, this will be the sixth meeting between the two teams. The Yellow Jackets lead the series 4-1, though Tulane won the last meeting. Good luck to the women’s basketball team as they look to improve to 2-1 on the season.
