One transfer linebacker isn’t enough for Geoff Collins & co. this year, along with former Alabama LB Kevin Harris, the Jackets recently added LB Ayinde Eley. Eley played for the Maryland Terrapins for three seasons, in 2019 he was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten player. This season, Eley played in three games, garnering 19 tackles (1 TFL). During his All-Big Ten year, Eley totaled 79 tackles, .5 sacks, and an interception. With the departure of LB David Curry, and the limited experience of other players at the position, Eley could make an immediate impact in Atlanta. Welcome to the Flats, Ayinde!

The accolades just keep rolling in for team MVP P Pressley Harvin III. Besides being named first-team All-ACC and a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, Harvin has made the AP’s first-team All-America. Harvin is the first Jacket to garner first-team status since DE Derrick Morgan in 2009, before Morgan the last Jacket to have a spot on the prestigious first-team was WR Calvin Johnson. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Harvin hitting bombs on Sundays. Congratulations, Pressley!

It’s been a while since the Georgia Tech Basketball team has played a game, with their contest against UAB scheduled for December 23 getting cancelled due to COVID-19. Tomorrow, the Jackets are set to face Coach Roy Williams and the UNC Tar Heels in Atlanta. The Heels have had their struggles this season, losing nail-biters to NC State and Texas, with a wider loss coming at the hands of Iowa. That doesn’t mean the Heels will be a pushover though, it’ll be a tough matchup for Tech in the middle of holiday break. This match-up will really show what Josh Pastner has as he looks to make the NCAA Tournament. The game tips off at 8 p.m. ET and can be seen on a RSN.

It’s always a good thing to see Georgia Tech in recruiting battles with schools like Florida, as we all know, it’s been increasingly common under Geoff Collins. The coaching staff has to finish the battles successfully though, and Devin Smith would be a great addition at linebacker.

Question of the Day: What do you think of the incoming LB transfer from Maryland?
