This article breaks down some details of Tech’s 2021 recruiting class. If you only look at the rankings that don’t consider transfer students then you may think it was a disappointing result. Tech’s class ranks 46th according to 247.com and 43rd according to Rivals.com. However, as the article points out, if you include transfer students, then the Yellow Jackets 2021 class would rank 20th. Understandably, it was difficult for head coach Geoff Collins and his coaching staff to recruit without campus visits and other restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. But taking that all into consideration, Collins and his staff did a fairly good job in what is only their second full recruiting class.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets softball player Crosby Huckabay was named one of 15 recipients of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Go Teach Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway. As the article points out, the scholarship is awarded to student-athletes who are interested in teaching or coaching. Huckabay is one of the softball team’s leaders in RBIs and home runs. Having already earned one degree, Huckabay is now working on completing her second degree from Tech. Congratulations to her on being awarded this scholarship.
In this #ProJackets update, former Tech golfer Matt Kuchar teamed up with former UGA golfer Harris English to win the QBE Shootout. So, yes, apparently, it is possible for Yellow Jackets and Bulldogs to work together. All kidding aside, congratulations to both of them.
The Yellow Jackets women’s basketball is off to a great start this season. At 4-1, the Yellow Jackets are fresh off of their first road victory of the season. This was a dominant 82-67 win against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The team will be at home today trying to extend their strong start. They’ll have to do it against another 4-1 team as they host the Miami Hurricanes at McCamish Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM and the game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. #GoJackets
